One of the most basic and important tests in graphic design is whether people will actually pick up (or check out) your material and read it.
The amazing thing about these materials produced by the TRIP! Project is that they talk about safer sex and drug use and still pass the pick up test. I’ve seen youth take them because of their funky designs and read them, even out loud to each other, because of their use of of real and non-judgemental language.
TRIP! started in 1995 as the Toronto Raver Information Project, bringing a refreshing harm reduction perspective to the partying scene. Check out TRIP!’s website for more from them or CATIE for PDFs of some of their outreach materials. Congrats and respect to designer Nick Ayling and the youth at TRIP! for putting together this top notch stuff.
